I just finished my writing camp at the Meadow Brook hall mansion, which is in Oakland University. We made a final presentation where we shared some of our writing, here is my presentation.

The frame

I stepped out of the uncomfortable taxi cab and handed the driver my money. I looked down at the wad of cash longingly, $500. All of my savings thrown away just to get a new start. I thought sadly. I got framed for a crime I didn’t do! Wait! Let me explain! A woman in a business suit came at my door at almost 12:00 at night saying I won a thousand dollars. The weird part was they said I had to take the money this instant or else I wouldn’t get it. At first I was happy that I won that much money! I was so happy I almost took it blindly. I was about to until they said I had to sign this piece of paper that I couldn’t read because of the light. They kept pressuring me to sign it until they couldn’t wait anymore. They said if I don’t sign in 5 seconds they would have to give the award to someone else! I was so desperate, I wasn’t thinking straight. I signed and took the money. Not 3 minutes later the police showed up and took me under arrest. It took 3 years for my name to be cleared and the bad guys to be caught, but even after that I couldn’t bear to live in Michigan anymore! I got mean looks even my own daughter got shunned because of me! I couldn’t take it anymore and moved to Chicago. Now I have a fresh start and I even got a new last name of me and my daughter. I have a fresh slate here for me to pursue any job, anything I have ever dreamed of doing! I won’t have to worry about people whispering ‘oh Suzie don’t play with the thief’s daughter, I don’t want you to get influenced.’ I am so glad that finally I get a new chance at life! I can help fix those kind of problems and raise awareness of thieves and how to catch them. More importantly, more people staying safe, without having their neighbors look at them like criminals just because they got framed. Even after the real criminals have been caught! I can help!

The Thunderstorm

“Quick, get into the house Amy!” Suzie yelled. Amy was sitting on the porch looking at the horrible disaster. This was no ordinary thunderstorm, it was an acid thunderstorm where anybody who touched the rain would get severely burned. Amy and Suzie are best friends and Amy came over for a sleepover just a couple hours ago. “No, it’s so pretty, I don’t want to go in.” Amy replied.  The acid in the rain makes it looks shimmery and magical to anyone who looks at it. They can’t resist touching it, but when they do they get burned severely. Amy started to reach her hand our getting closer and closer to the rain drops. “No! Amy, get back!” Suzie yelled frantically. In desperation she lunged towards and dragged Amy into the house and locked the door. “OMG (Oh my gosh)! Thank you so much for saving me Suzie! I might’ve died, I could’ve been in the hospital for a long time! The acid rain is made up of part acid, part poison and part rain. It’s mostly poison, though. “No problem, that’s what friends are for Amy, you would’ve done the same for me wouldn’t you Amy?” Of course, you said it yourself, that’s what real friends are for!” The laughed and ran to the kitchen to get themselves a snack.

Air Time

Yesterday I went to air time with some of my friends and as soon as I got there I was really excited to jump! We got out wristbands and went over to take our socks and shoes off. As soon as we were all ready we just about ran to the trampoline area, and I gingerly got on and started jumping. It was sooooooo fun! We went to the dodge ball area and got in the line to play. We also went to the foam pit where we had contests to see who could jump the farthest into the foam pit. I know for sure I'm going back to Air Time!

Air Time

Today for one of my friends birthday party we're going to Air Time, and I'm really excited. I've never been on a trampoline in my whole life! My parents are worried that I might break my neck or get really hurt. I had to convince them that it is safe to go to air time. I'll tell you about it another time.

Last Day of School

Even though I'm excited for my camps this summer, I'm really sad for the last day of school because I made bonds with all my friends this year. It seems right after I made close bonds with all my friends then we're getting split up for 7th grade. At least all my friends are going to see each other over summer break and during lunch next year. We're also going to be in at least one class together! I'm really sad to be graduating 6th grade. At least I'll make even more friends next year during 7th grade! Also since this might be my last blog post ever on this blog, I was wondering: Mr. Joe do you want me to keep writing??

Book Sale

Today after school was out and during choice hour I went down to the media center where they were selling used books, paper back books for 50 cents, hardcover books for 1 dollar and fill a bag for 5 dollars. I gave the librarian 5 dollars and she gave me a thank you bag and I started to fill the bag up with books that looked interesting. Ania came with me and helped me choose books. Most people didn't know about the book sale and it'll be too late tomorrow because the sale ends today. I got some really good books, one was a giant book of art and another was another humongous book of short stories by the same person. I'm glad I'll have something to read at all of my camps! I love, love LOVE to read!

Summer Vacation

As summer break is getting closer and closer, all my friends are getting sad that we won't see each other for about 2 months. The good news is that we have a group text set up and most of us will be seeing each other at camp or hanging out at each others houses. The thing I'm going to miss most about school  during the summer is socializing with my friends. I'm also going to miss the structure of school and the schedule which helps me keep focused and busy. I'm also going to miss my teachers.

Move Up Day

I walked into Mrs. Korhman's room when she saw me and said, "Oh, Hi take a seat anywhere and here's the schedule for today."
"Ok, thank you." I told her, shyly.
I sat down next to Megan, Jewel and Olivia and we started talking about how nice Mrs. Korhman was. We rotated between Mr. McCloud, Mrs. Giesler, Mr. Emmi, Ms. Weage, Ms. Share. They were really nice teachers and I hope I get them as my teacher next year! They're all so nice I can't wait until next year!

Summer Packet

When I woke up on Saturday, I slowly, Slowly went into the kitchen, where I saw my dad reading something.
"Good morning." I told him and he responded with a "Good morning Shin Be."
"What's that?" I asked pointing to the large packet he was reading.
"Oh, that's your summer packet." He told me.
"What!? That things huge!" I exclaimed.
"You have to read King Arthur too, for the language arts section of it."  He told me. After I ate breakfast I looked at the packet and decided to get a head start. I did the vocabulary section about words from the King Arthur book. I'm going to work on a little more when I get the King Arthur book, so I can read it and answer the questions. 

Teacher Letter

Today as I was sitting on the bus playing on my Ipad, Amanda leaned over to me and said "Hey, Jewel said that she's in Korman and so are you, Olivia and Megan C." She told me.
"Really?" I asked. "Yes, I'm with Megan and Jewel and Olivia. I'm glad because I know all them pretty well and they really nice. I know that I'm going to have to spend my time so you can get everything done and not scramble to do it at the last minute. I'm really excited for 7th grade.

Strohs

"What should I get?" I asked. I was at Stroh's Ice cream place, I just ran there from school with the track team. I ran there with Vivian and Josie. We were standing inside when Amanda came up to us and said, "Hey, do you guys want water, 'cause there's water over there?"
"Sure!" We all replied in unison.  Soon enough Amanda came over almost dropping 1 of the cups she was holding. In the end I ordered  one scoop of rainbow sherbet and one scoop of lemon sorbet. Vivian got the same thing as I did and I loved it! Partly because I just ran 1 and 1/2 miles and partly because it tasted good. I'm signing up for track again next year but not cross country because I have forensics and science Olympiad. But at least I'm doing track!

"Oh, we're going somewhere at 6:00." My dad told me right after I got off the bus and he said hello.
"Ooo, where? Where? Where" I eagerly asked.
"Ok, I was on the computer all day looking for places you can volunteer at. But everywhere said you have to be at least 16 years old, but the Library said that you can volunteer there, and you can count it as community service." My dad told me.
"Oh, that's great! Are you sure that it'll count?" I asked.
"Yes, I'm positive."  He said. I'm really excited for the meeting, and we have to get there early because they don't accept everyone. I think its first come, first serve, if you already registered. I can only do some of the events, but its going to be at least 5 hours, which is good. I can't wait until the summer time because I have so much stuff to do! I can't wait:)

Concert!
Thursday is the day when I have to preform my solo song with Catherine. We've only had about 1 week to practice the song, but my dad told me not to make excuses for myself. We're going to meet on Tuesday during choice hour and before the concert this Thursday. I really hope we can get it to sound really good and professional! I also excited for the whole orchestra songs, which are Cannon Power, Dark Visions and House of Untold Horrors. My favorite is House of Untold Horrors, then Dark Visions then Cannon Power. I can't wait 'till Thursday.

Tomorrowland

Today we went to see the movie Tomorrowland. I was looking to see what movies were playing online and I saw Pitch Perfect 2 and Tomorrowland was both playing in the movie theaters. I had to make a decision whether to watch Pitch Perfect 2 or Tomorrowland. I decided that I would watch Tomorrowland because my dad told me that the Tomorrowland trailer looked like the better movie, and that Pitch Perfect 2 would be out on DVDs faster than Tomorrowland would be. We went to the 1:20 movie and while we were in line I asked my dad to promise me to buy the DVD for Pitch Perfect 2 when it comes out. I won't spoil the movie for you but I will tell you I loved it and my favorite character was either the girl who gets the pin or the old guy. I recommend the movie to anyone who likes action movies. It also touched on the fact that there are many problems in the world and everyone needs to try and fix them, not just one person. So that's why I'm recommending this movie to you.

Shaky Solo?

Today during my choice hour I was in the orchestra room getting ready to work on my solo with an 8th grader in band who plays the piano. She's going to be my accompanist playing Bourée. She had to teach herself today while I was practicing. At first we were really off, but we slowly got better. We're also going to play together next Monday but I don't think its going to be shaky, its going to be amazing!

Today we were helping the 5th graders plan a field trip to collect gift cards for the jewelry group. The people who already went on a field trip, Ania, Vivian and me couldn't go unless we found a driver and if everyone else already had a driver. Megan's babysitter can drive Megan, Aria and Jane. While Ellie's mom can drive Ellie, Nia, Collette,  and Alex B. My dad can drive Me, Ania, Vivian and Jordyn. I'm really excited for this trip. Our group gets to go to Claire's, Bath and Body Works and Ivivva. Ellie's group gets Starbucks North, Forever 21, and Pink. Megan's group gets Victoria's Secret, Starbucks- South. I can't wait because this is my first field trip to the mall to collect gift cards. Its also kind of special that its in the last few days of school!

Inspiration

Today I was thinking about inspiration and motivation when I got home when I was thinking about what to write about for AHW. Inspiration is something that moves you or makes you think of something especially creative or something you never thought of before. Or , I got this from the dictionary: the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Are you looking forward to summer break?

I'm thinking about this more and more as it gets closer and closer to summer break. I have made a pro's and con's list about looking forward to summer break or not.


Pro's

• You get to relax
• You don't have to get up as early
• You get to go to interesting places and you get to go to camp (if you want to)
• You don't always have to worry about getting your homework done on time
• You get to spend more time with family and friends

Con's

• If you're an only child that means spending almost 3 months with only your parents, and if you don't have any pets you get really lonely because you have nobody to play with so you have to play by yourself for 3 months.
• You don't always go anywhere so you have to stay at home.
• You don't get to go to school
• Sometimes you forget things you learned last year
• You don't get to always see you're friends

For me I'm looking forward to this summer because I'm going to 3 camps, one is to help my writing skills, another is to have fun and I'm going to Blue Lake to work on my musical skills! I'm also going up to Higgins Lake with one of my friends to celebrate my birthday. So I'm very excited for this summer! I won't be forgetting almost anything I learned last year because I practice and study even over the summer with my mom.

Orcherstra

I walked down the steps to the orchestra room when I saw Mr. Joe standing in the Ensemble room.
"I'm your substitute today for orchestra. He said.  Jordyn, violins and violas are in the ensemble room. Shin Be, what do you play?" He asked.
"Cello." I responded.
"OK, your playing with your section in the main room." He told me. I walked in and all the cello players turned their heads to look at me.
"Hello everybody." I said. After that we played for about 25 minutes by ourselves then the whole orchestra got together and played Cannon Power and Dark Visions. I think we did really good without Mrs. Gillespie. I can't wait until we have our concert! I'm playing a solo during the concert and I'm really excited.

AHW

Today I was looking at the choice hour form for the 1st quarter next year. I turned over the crisp white paper and looked at the science Olympiad form for middle school. I didn't sign up for it this year and I knew I made a big mistake not signing up because I missed out on a lot. But next year I'm going to do Science Olympiad and Forensics, if I make the team! For one of my events in science Olympiad I want to do Meteorology because I'm pretty good at weather and stuff related to weather.

Audition

I have a forensics audition to determine whether I'm going to be on the team or not. I'm going to do 2 pieces and both are short stories. Both of them are humorous and fun. Vivian and Megan gave me some advice about how I should emphasize the characters more. I really want to be on the team because I want to get better at public speaking and I want to be on more school teams. I can't wait until I have my audition on Thursday!

Track

'Come on I'm almost done.' I told myself as I ran the last stretch of the 1 mile. I just passed Azaria; I was running right next to her the whole time because she runs at my pace. There was one of the Berkshire girls right in front of me so I sprinted a little harder and passed her. Now I was about 100 meters away from the finish line and I turned up all the way and sprinted as hard as I could towards that finish line. I passed it feeling happy but also not knowing where exactly the finish line was.
"8:33." The woman called out.
"8:33, great job!" Coach Giesler yelled out. Wow- 8:33, I dropped a whole minute and 20 seconds off of my school mile! I was so happy because before this year I couldn't get faster than a 11 minute mile, I've improved so much over the track and cross country season, so I'm really happy.

WOSO

"If they don't call Don't Bug Me then I'm going to scream." I yelled over the noise at Zoe.
We were at the Wayne Oakland Science Olympiad competition and they were announcing the winners. It was 3rd through 5th and even though there were 4th graders and 6th graders on out team, we still qualified as 5th graders. They just called out Charged Up and we all hoped they would call Don't Bug Me next.
"Ok, next is Don't Bug Me for 3rd graders." The man yelled into the microphone.
"Yay!" Zoe and I squealed. Finally he got to 5th grade and me and Zoe squeezed each others hand so tightly we both had to say:
"Ow, you're holding too tight!"
"5th place is... Birmingham Covington School-team 36!" The man called out.
I was slightly disappointed but Zoe and I went up and received our medals. Then we went back and sat down and waited for him to call up Weather or Not. After about 30 minutes he finally called 3rd grade Weather or Not. We patiently waited for him to call 5th grade. He did and I was crossing my fingers to not get 5th place. He called a school that was not us (thankfully) but when he got to 3rd place and didn't call out name we were starting to get worried.
"2nd place is...Birmingham Covington School-team 36!" He called out.
I was really proud of us and we walked up there and received our medals. On the way back we high fived each other and sat down. I was proud that I did that well and even though last year I won 1st and 2nd place, my 2nd and 5th place medals form this year are worth more than a 1st place and 2nd place medal in that other competition because this year there were 39 schools and 41 teams. Last year there were only about 10 schools and 10 teams.
I think Zoe and I make a good team!

MTY

"I have a secret to tell you, do you like secrets?" Said the superintendent of Michigan schools.
"YES!" We all hollered in unison.
"Well, the Michigan Teacher of the Year is standing right in this room!" He said.
"AHH, YAY, MR. JOE!" The whole school was screaming. I saw Mr. Joe hug Mrs. Roberts who was sitting right next to him. We all knew it was him because he was the only person that got nominated from BCS for Michigan Teacher of the Year. He got up and then his whole family and his Facebook family got up there was congratulating him. He said that he couldn't have done it without the help of the whole school. I really happy that he won MTY.

Loose Bracket

"Do you want some chocolate?" My dad asked.
"Sure." I replied taking one piece of chocolate.
"Are you sure you only want one?" He asked.
"Yes." I answered.
I bit into the frozen chocolate piece really hard at the back of my mouth. It wasn't breaking off so I bit at the front of my mouth. Then I felt the bracket come loose the bracket that was loose was the one at the very end on the right side. Uh oh. I thought.
"My bracket came off." I told my dad "Call my orthodontist." I said.
"Okay." He said.
"I'm going to try to take it out." I yelled from the bathroom.
I have to wait until my orthodontist calls back and says I can visit her so she can fix it.

AHW

Tomorrow we have another track meet at Groves against Cranbrook. They're really fast and great at the long jump and the high jump. I want to run the 4 by 4 relay, the 800 and the high jump. I know I never tried the 400 before but I'm pretty good at the 800 so I think I can do the 400 even better because its only 1 lap instead of 2. I know I'm not a sprinter but I can always get better at my sprinting. I can't wait for my events because I like running and I run for personal improvement.

I briskly walked into to room 504 for Social Studies without my stuff because I heard that we didn't need it. I wondered what we would be doing. Then as soon as I walked into the classroom I remembered what we were doing. The mock trial! It was organized just like a court room would be like. Finally Mr. J called out "Ok I'm going to call out the names of what character you're going to be playing." The Bailiff is Shin Be." Then everyone started to clap.
 Everyone stop clapping!" He yelled.
He continued calling out names until everyone got their role. The judge was Ellie. We ran through the trial and I learned my lines. I supposed to say: All rise, the honorable Ellie Deigan presiding. Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help you? And something else about swearing on the jury. I'm glad I got picked to be the Bailiff even though that was my 2 choice.

Fire Drill-Not

I could feel the heat wave rush onto my face as soon as I walked outside. The sun was burning, I was instantly washed over with a giant wave of heat. I could hear the alarm blaring "Mah, Mah, Mah!" The alarm screamed. We walked over to the lines and lined up-really quiet. "Ok, there was an electrical that was cut and its not turning off." Mr. M (The principal) said. After about 30 minutes they let us get up and walk around. We started to play red rover but then we found out we weren't allowed to. Then we had to stay in a circle and play silent ball. Then me and Ania went up and asked Mrs. Roberts about our field trip to the mall. She said that we couldn't go into the building until the alarms stopped so it had to be canceled. We were all disappointed, including my dad who was waiting there to drive us. Finally after an hour we got to go inside and drink some water.

Track

Today I had a track meet where I ran the 800 m, 100m, and did the high jump. I didn't make it over the pole but the guy in charge said that with a little of practice I could be a really good high jumper. That was my first try and I didn't even do it in practice! After that I ran the 800 m and I started out in the middle and Anna C. was right behind me. (Its 2 laps long) After I finished the first lap Anna passed me for a couple seconds and then I sprinted past her. About 100 m till the finish I was 1 foot behind Ania and then I sprinted a little harder and I was running beside her. Then she started sprinting a little harder then I went to full speed and zoomed past her then I ran as fast as I could and I probably looked really funny with my arms really high but that's how you're supposed to run-and it helped me. I finished 23 out of I think 29 or 30. Ania got 24. But Ania's way better at longer distances like the 1 mile and the 2 mile. My time was 3:37:49. I was really happy but for the 100 m I got last and a 18:47. Ania beat me in that with a 17:35. I think with a little practice and some training I could be pretty good at the 100 m.

Audition

Tomorrow I have my OYO audition and I'm really excited and kind of nervous because I might not be accepted. I'm going to play a song called Bourèè. My dad emailed them to ask them if it was ok that I would show up wearing track clothes. They emailed back saying 'oh, its fine we get kids wearing muddy everything or wearing fancy clothes. We don't even care about how your dressed; just if you can play. I practiced so much I can't wait to finally do it.

Busy as a Bee!

This Wednesday I will be as busy as a bee! Well I'm more busy in the afternoon because I might have a math test but I'm not a hundred percent sure. We also have a track meet and I have to leave early to go to my OYO audition. (Oakland Youth Orchestra) In between my track meet and going to OYO I have to eat because it will be too late after the audition. Then we have to drive home and we'll get home at around 9:00. When I get home I still have homework to and by the time I'm done with my homework and my shower it'll be really late like 10:00. I still have to get up early the next morning for track practice! I'm happy though because we get to practice at Groves and I'm going to work on my sprints!

DIA

I went to the DIA with Ania and we looked at modern art and old art. I really think that most of the modern art didn't take that much effort. One was a bunch of paint splatters on a canvas and another was 3 squares. I think that anyone could make that with almost no effort at all. I don't know why some pieces got to be so famous because all that it is, is just a blob of color. All of the old art tell a story or show a meaningful place or people. I saw this picture of death and it was a meaningful piece and it taught a lesson about how everyone dies but if you live it well, one life is all you need. I really enjoyed my visit and I am excited to return!

Blood, Blood everywhere! This morning I woke up and had breakfast. During breakfast I had a bloody nose! I truly hate nose bleeds. Later today during school, when we went outside for a fire drill I accidently got hit in the nose. It started gushing bright warm blood and got all over my hands. I was very nervous and scared from losing all that blood. Mrs. Cook was right in front of me so I asked her.  "Um, Mrs. Cook do you have a tissue?" "No, sweetie." She replied. Then I passed Mr. Joe who gave me a clean blue handkerchief from his pocket. When I went to the bathroom my friends Nia came with me. After about 15 minutes my nose stopped bleeding and I had to wash my hands, which had blood all over them. By the time we got out of the bathroom it was 1:57, 3 minutes until Social Studies ended. I was really fatigued and my nose was in agony even though it wasn't bleeding. By the time we got to Mr. Joe's room social studies was over.


I am thankful Mr. Joe was there to help me.

AHW

"Vroom, Vroom." Creaked the loud, yellow, school bus. 2 kids were still outside playing wall ball and didn't hear the bus start up. "Hurry up!" One kid yelled though the window. They ran towards the bus and climbed on. "Vroom, Vroom." The bus said again. Then one of the kids got out of their seat and jump-hopped all the way to the back  of the bus, and hopped back- with his backpack. Our bus driver stopped the bus once again, and unbuckled his seat belt with a loud "Click!" Finally after what seemed like 1 hour Mr. M (Our Principal) walked onto our bus! He and the bus driver talked about how things were being lost and not returned and how kids are moving while the bus is moving. Mr. M and the bus driver also showed us a pack of needles with 2 used ones but one of the needles weren't on the bus- at least he couldn't find it. They talked about how that it was really dangerous to use needles on the bus and how if we don't behave he will stop and wait until we behave. Then Mr. M got off the bus and we continued with our trip.

AHW

Today during lunch my friends and I were talking about being vegetarian. Megan, Jordyn and I were talking about how hard it was. I especially couldn't go without eating meat for one day because I have to have at least one type of meat for lunch: either Mexican Grill or Salami sandwich or hamburger patties with vegetables. My family and I also eat meat almost every day during dinner. So after talking about eating meat, my friends and I decided to have a contest to see who could be vegetarian the longest. Megan didn't want to participate so it was just me, Vivian, Aria, Nia, Jordyn and Ania. I think either Ania or Nia could win because Ania's already a vegetarian and Nia's part vegan. I think if I had to be vegetarian I couldn't do it.

Today I had my 2nd track meet but I only did shot put because I can't run without getting major shooting pain and pain that doesn't go away. IO think I might've sprained one of my ankles but I still have to go to track. The good news it that I don't have to run when I go there I could just time or do something to help.

New Bike-Maybe

Today we were about to leave Costco when my dad said "Wait right here I'll be right back."
When we got in the car my dad said that he looked to make sure they were still selling the bike that I wanted to get. I outgrew my old bike so we're looking for a new one. "Oh I know! We'll go to that bike store close to Zoe's house!" He said.
"Ok." Said my mom and I. We pulled up to the store and immediately I went in and spotted a very pretty... exercise machine! It was the one where its like you're climbing stairs. Then I saw a very pretty bike. It turned out that it was a 26'', just the size I needed! But it turned out that it was wayyyy to expensive. $450! Then I came up with a brilliant idea! I could just use my dads bike with the seat all the way down! I tried his bike and I love it! It's kind of a new bike but not really! But I'm still excited! So we have to decided whether to use my dads hand me down or get a new bike just for me.

Birbery

Today Megan, Zoe and Sarah S and I all went to the Birbery committee. As soon as I walked in the party bus it seemed way bigger than it actually was because they was glassy reflection of us at the end of the bus. I could smell the clean, new leather and the music was playing "I'll See You Again" There was a T.V. and a loud radio playing 97.7. We got sparkling, pink lemonade in crystal clear wine glasses. On the way there and we quickly said what our favorite books were. The 'winner' from BCS was Upside Down in the Middle Of Nowhere.  After we got picked up the bus rocked to start and the radio started blaring out new familiar pop songs. Megan was the first to start singing then we all joined in. When we got there we saw crisp, fresh looking name cards with our names typed neatly on there. Then they passed out some mints while we all sat around in a lumpy looking shaped oval. We discussed what we liked and didn't like about the Birbery. I said that there weren't enough books. I thought there should be 15 books instead of 10 books. Mostly everyone agreed with me. Then after we discussed everything about the Birbery in general, we smelled the delicious aromas that came from the far end of the room. "Ok, it's time to eat, we have a taco buffet." said one of the media specialists.
"About time! I'm starving, everyone at school already finished their lunch !" complained Megan.
We all got into line and I saw the nachos were at the end of the line. I glanced nervously because I didn't want to wait in the line again.
"I'll save you're spot, go." Said Zoe.
"Thank you." I responded. I quickly darted there and grabbed some nachos and darted back.
After we ate it was time to discuss all the books. I like... well I like them all! After that we all got a pencil and a slip of paper to write the amount of points we gave the books a 3 is the most and a 1 is the least. I only have one 1. "Ok the winner is                                        . I'm not allowed to say the winner!

Today I'm going to the Groves learning expedition from 6 to 8 o'clock. I'm really excited because they have gummy worms and starbursts. I LOVE candy!!!!! Its so yummy and I love its tangy, sweet taste on my tongue. I can't wait-oh and I'm also selling ZINC jewelry there too! 

The Chair - of Torture!

Today an inquisitive friend of mine asked me what's it like to get braces. Well let me tell you about getting braces! When I first got braces it was torture for 2 weeks! I have a different type of braces than most people: it works faster but hurts more. My orthodontist put some cement on my teeth then pressed the brackets on the cement. Then she had to put bands on in the very back. She had to push and poke to get it on, it really hurt like a penetrating pain. (About a month ago she said my bands were loose so she took them off and put brackets on saying "Shhh, don't tell anyone.") Whenever she tightened my braces my gums and teeth ache. Every time you put you're teeth together its like a needle in gums.  Even though at first I really, really really didn't want braces my parents told me that it will help me become more successful and my teeth and smile will look prettier. I always go to the orthodontist on dreary Mondays. I am getting super excited because I get my braces off this June! I've only had them on for 1 year which is really short so I'm happy because as soon as I get my braces off my dad said he'll buy me 3 packs of gum- my choice! After I told her all of that she responded by saying "Now I don't want braces!"

Track and Field

Today we had our first track meet and my events were 2 mile, 1/2 mile and long jump. Our bus for the 6/7 grade boys and girls were late so we had to hurry and get checked in for our field events. I was doing the 2 mile with Ania so we stuck together because it was the first event.
"Everyone doing 2 mile! Come over here. Everyone doing 2 mile!" Coach Geisler.
Ania and I lined up in lane 2.

BANG! Off we ran I faced myself of I went slow at the beginning but I got faster at the end. I could hear my dad from the gate where he was measuring shot put yell
"Good job! You can do it!" My dad yelled. That was the beginning of my first track meet.

"Hey, what'd you get for 16?" I asked while jotting down my answer.
"Oh wait-never mind!" I said.
I was at school with Megan, Ania and Vivian. We were practicing our long jump put we came inside for a little while but then Viv and Megan went out again while Ania and I stayed inside to do our homework. I just finished and I decided to get out my IPad and I started to play music from "The Voice" I kept changing the song before it was over. I was singing and jamming out when Ania asked "What are you doing?"
"I'm dancing what does it look like?" I asked. I was dancing in time to the song and I probably looked very funny. I had a great time when I was at Vivian's house except for the fact that when we were playing with Viv's neighbor's dog she chased me and I fell in the mud. I got my pant all dirty and reopened my scab and it started to bleed: for the 3rd time! I really hate my knee but I have to live with it!

Acting

Today I clip-clopped into the school and I saw Ali right behind me. "Hi Ali!" I called.
"Hello!" She called back.
"Are you sure we came here at the right-never mind! I called. I just saw Mia L walk into the main hallway. When we got in front of the cafeteria I saw Megan practicing her piece. I started to walk towards her when I saw Ania peek her head out of the gym. She motioned for me to come over. I did and I watched some girls preform. Then it was time to sit down and get ready to watch.

Pen Pals

I was waiting impatiently for Mr. Joe to come around and give us our pen pals from Hanoi, Vietnam. "Now remember that some of you might get 2 pen pals." Mr. Joe said very loudly so we could all hear. I was really hoping that I would get 2 pen pals when he asked: "Ok everyone at team 3 are you ready to get your pen pals?"
"Yes, Yes!" I almost yelled, I was so excited.
"OK, these are you're 2 pen pals, one's a boy and one's a girl." He said.
"Ok, thank you!" I said.

"Zoe" Mrs. Brown called out. She was handing out our results for the unit 11 test.
"Shin Be" She finally called my name: I was near the bottom of the list and I was very nervous for my test score because she told us that no one got 100 percent. I looked at my test score and my heart dropped. I got a B+ but I know that I'll do better next time. 

16 State Trip!

My parents told me a couple days ago that we're going on a trip to Yellowstone National Park then to the Grand Canyon and then to Yosemite National Park. I'm really excited even though we're going next year, we're going to be driving through 16 states including Michigan. My parents told me that I get to search and find the tourist attractions and where we're going to stop. I want to stop at Millennium Park, Field Museum of Natural History, Navy Pier and my friend Grace W's house in Chicago. I want to see Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, and the Wind  Cave National Park in South Dakota. That's as far as I got in my list but I'm still working on it.

Short Story

One day a girl named Rokel who was always complaining and never appreciating anything anybody does and she always takes things for granted, was sitting at the dining table and asked "Mom! what's for dinner?" While she was playing on her phone. "Well sweetie, we're having fish sticks." She replied.
"Yuck who eats fish sticks? I'm not gonna eat that!" She cried out in disgust.
In the morning on her way to the mall (It was Saturday) with about $100 she ran into a girl with her mom and the mom was buying a pretzel for the girl. "Oh thank you mom!" The girl cried and it was obvious that she didn't have much money and she was wearing tattered clothes with holes in them. The girl turned around so fast she ran into Rokel. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed.
"Why are you happy just to get a pretzel? I mean I didn't get that excited when I got my phone." Rokel said.
"Well its always good to great full towards people who give you things, even if its just giving you food on a plate, new clothes, money for the mall, or a new phone." She replied.
Rokel looked down at her money in her hand and her phone in her back pocket and realized that she was a ungrateful person. So she raced back home and bolted through the door and gave her parents a big hug and said "I'm really sorry I didn't appreciate all those things you did for me, I promise I will from now on." Rokel cried.
From that day on Rokel was so kind and nice not only to her parents but to everyone who gave her things and helped her in any kind of way. She learned how to be appreciative. The End

Reunited

~The Antipode~

Part 1:

 The orange, pink and yellow glow of the sun was rising in the west on the planet Restome. Many things there are antipode of Earth. The people there know nothing of other worlds but the life they live. Their civilization is incredibly more advanced than Earth. For example, they never have any wars and, they can control the wind and weather with just a push of a button. The weather machine consisted of steps and things so evolved that the Earthlings have never even dreamed of it. In Restome there are huge houses and even the 'poor' live in the huge houses. The poor people in Restome are considered rich on Earth. They also have so many materials everything is bountiful.  They're rich in water, oil, precious stones and other materials.

 

 Its winter now and very hot, at the temperature of 101 degrees Fahrenheit. In one neighborhood there is a small 10 year old girl who is waiting at a public flying train station with her mom. They're in the rich class and the young girl wears shorts with sparkling gold, diamonds and emeralds. Her earrings and jewelry are diamonds and emeralds. She wears a sparkling shirt of emeralds and rich silk and her flip flops are sliver inlaid with tiny alexandrite chips each weighing less than 0.1 of an ounce. Her name is Sarani which means joy and she really does bring joy to her mother. She brings joy because she always gets A's in school, and always helps her mom when necessary.  Her mother's name is Remeleen, and that means white antelope. Sarani always writes down that name, always asks why her mom doesn't like the name Remeleem. Her mother always replies, 'I'm not an antelope, I'm not graceful, and I don't like people calling me what I'm not, such as 'white antelope'.

 Part 2:

 Sarani Smith and her mother were waiting to go visit Sarani's grandmother who is even wealthier than her mom. She loves seeing her grandmother because she is the only grandparent she has left. She doesn't even have a dad (if she does she never saw him) so when people bring it up she feels a pain deep in her like someone stabbed a knife through her heart, or like a shard of ice that flash freezes when anyone brings the subject of dads up. Her grandmother always hugs and kisses Sarani and feels like she has to buy Sarani's affection. She gives her things such as clothes, jewels and money. Sarani refuses it all. She hates how her grandma thinks that Sarani is shallow enough to love her just because she gives her presents. She loves her grandma anyways-without the gifts.

Part 3:

 A few blocks down from Sarani's grandma's house was another 10 year old girl whose name was Rosaline Appleseed. When she was young she didn't like her name but as she got older, her love for her name grew. Rosaline lives with her dad and dog named Buddy, in a gigantic mansion. Rosaline also gets all A's and gets highest marks in school. She doesn't need to help clean the house because she has machines to do all the work but always does everything she's told. She loves her dad, whose name is Johnny Appleseed. Rosaline's dad got rich for growing apple trees, that's why his name is Johnny Appleseed. Rosaline is standing outside waiting to go visit Johnny's dad. Rosa is wearing an Italian silk blouse with diamonds and sapphires. She's also wearing a diamond necklace, bracelet and earrings. Her shorts have sapphires in the hem of the shorts. Her dad is so rich that they have their very own private flying train.

Part 4:

Rosaline’s grandfather owns 3 dogs so Rosa always bring Buddy to his house so Buddy can play with the other dogs. Even though Rosa has Buddy and tons of friends, she always wanted a sibling. A twin to be exact. Rosa also wants a mom because she wants her dad’s face light up like a light bulb like he used to in the pictures. Once in a while Rosa’s dad smiles but not often. Now the train comes, sleek and elegant for such a large thing. The purring of the train is comforting.

“Let’s go. Do you have your bag?”

“Yes, papa.”

Rosa and her dad always stay for a week or two at her grandfather’s house since he’s lonely and very nice. He always takes the time to ask Rosa how she’s doing at home and in school. She really likes her grandfather but feels a pity that her grandmother died. But it brings Rosa and her grandfather closer together because they both live without someone they both need and want. Rosa’s mother and her grandfather’s wife. But they both deal with it and their dogs help because dogs are very energetic and playful so they help you keep calm and happy.

Part 5:

Johnny has always missed his wife Remeleem and his other daughter Sarani. In his gold studded wallet he keeps a picture of when the twins were infants and Johnny and Remeleem we standing side by side. Each of them had a simile big enough to light a stadium. So when Rose walks in the living room and see a picture of 2 baby’s and her dad with his wife. She knew right then that she was in fact a twin and a had mom! This had to be the happiest day of her life.

 

Part 6:

So now Rosa found out that she had a sister and a mom she was determined to find them. She absently walked into her fathers room deep in thought.

"Oh there you are sweetie. I was looking all over for you. I need to tell you important news."

"Yeah Ok. Wait what?" Rosa said startled, her brain was a million miles away."

"Oh I was going to tell you since its winter and schools out now I was thinking you go to camp."  Said Johnny in a soothing tone.

Now remember that winter there is as warm as summer on Earth. They have school in their summer time which is the opposite of us.

"No, I don't want to go!" Yelled Rosa.

"Well sweetie you don't have any choice I already signed you up. I'm sorry but I said you should go. Plus your si - I meant you're friends are going to go." He said very worried he might get caught.

"You mean sister don't you? I know you do and you didn't even tell me. Uggh! I'm soooo mad at you! She screamed.

Rosa was mad because her dad didn't tell her earlier and that he was keeping a secret from her all these years.

"Well sweetie-"

"Don't 'well sweetie me'." Rosa shot back. Rosa stomped out of the room like an army learning to step in unison. Then slammed the door shut with the force of a rocket.

 

Part 7:

 

'Oh no, what have I done? asked Johnny to himself. I should've told her before, what can I do to fix this? I ruined everything!' He did the only thing he could think of. He dialed his wife's phone number for the first time is 1 and 1/2 years.

"Beep - bop - beeP - bOp - beep-beep."

"Hello? This is Remeleem Smith, how many I help you?"

"Well this is Johnny Appleseed and I need some advice."

"Johnny!?! Is that you? You promised you'd never call again! I can't believe you, you broke you're promise."

"I'm sorry but Rosa's mad at me because she found out she had a mom and sister. Does Sarani know yet?"

"Well... No. Not yet. She's suspicious though. I have to go or else she'll figure it out. Rosa's still going to camp right?"

"I hope so. I don't know yet."

"Bye." Said Johnny gruffly.

"Bye, I umm, I miss you." Said Remeleem tentively.

"So do I and I'll see you at camp." Said Johnny softer this time.

"You too."

"Bye." Said Johnny, then he hung up.

Part 8:

 

"Bye, dad! See you in 3 weeks!" Called Rosa. She was walking from the car towards the camp with her blue suitcase in her hand.

"Bye, Rosa. Have a great time!" He called back. Now at the same time Sarani was saying goodbye to her mom.

"Bye, mom! I'll see you in 3 weeks. Don't forget to write." Sarani called to her mom.

"I know, have a great time and I won't forget to send you letters." Called her mom.

Sarani was walking backwards and didn't see where she was going and- BANG! She ran into Rosa. They both fell down and dropped their suitcases.

"Omg, I'm so sorry, here let me get that. What's you're name?" Sarani asked.

"Oh, its ok and my name's Rosa." She replied.

"Hey are you the daughter of Johnny Appleseed?" She asked.

"Yes, why?"
"Because you're my sister." She said.

"OMG, I knew I had a sister I just never knew it was you, you're names Sarani right?"

"Yes. Its so cool to have a sister finally!" Rosa exclaimed!

Running

Today I have to practice my running to get ready for track because I'm not a fast runner so I have to practice a lot. Even though it rained a lot in the fast dew days I still have to practice so I'm going to run after or before the rain. I am glad that my parents let me sign up for track, I just hope I'm not the slowest runner there.

Today I woke with a shiver and a yawn. We were at the Soaring Eagle Waterpark. It was very algid and I glanced at the glowing red clock that read 7:17 am. I heard a moan and rustle of bed covers. I spoke up and said: "Papa, when are going to eat?"
"At the buffet, now let me go back to sleep."
"Hey, if we're leaving at 11:00 then we have to eat at 8:00 then go down to the waterpark at 9:00, that's when its open."
"Ok, you can brush your teeth and wash your face first then."
"OK, I will."
When we went down to the water park I tried this rock climbing thing where you have to swim to the rock wall then climb as high as you can then push yourself off into the moderately warm water. I tried it 3 times because the first 2 times there was no line and the last time I got there just before 5 other kids got into line. The first and second time I didn't do so well but the last time I went I got about 3/4 up the way of the wall. I also went on their water slide and lazy rive and I had a blast!

Today my family and I are debating whether we're going to a waterpark up north. My mom doesn't want to go today while my dad and I want to go. I really like swimming and playing in the water even though I'm not the best swimmer. We're also going to stay at the hotel there as well and they have a swimming pool in the hotel so I'm really happy. We're not doing anything over break so we get to take a small, mini vacation. Even though its small I'm still excited.

DIA

Today Zoe and I went to the Detroit Institute of Arts with my parents. The building itself was magnificent and was huge. It also looked like a castle. We walked around a lot and saw all the really detailed and intricate pieces of art. My favorite piece was 'The Pool' which is a painting and it was sooooooo good! It was really detailed and looked 3d. Zoe's favorite piece was 'Yosemite Falls' and that one was also a painting. it was really cool and 3d as well. We also was pottery and statues and stained glass. We also saw rugs and swords, scissors and other really cool things. One thing that jumped out at me was the knights and the armor that was lined up along the hallway. Afterwards we went to Wendy's to get a Frosty. Zoe and I both got swirls (chocolate and vanilla) and my dad and my mom shared a vanilla. On the way home we talked about 'The Voice' and our favorite singers. Mine is Hannah Kirby, Brooke Adee and Blaze Johnson. Zoe's are Mia Z and Brooke Adee. I'll post pictures tomorrow! Spring Break: I'm kind of sad I'm not going anywhere but I'm still excited because I get to spend time catching up on homework (getting ahead) studying, and hanging out with my friends! For Easter my dad and I are going to church at 10:00 and listening to what the priest has to say. My dad told me its going to be extra crowded so we have to get there early. I also know I'm getting jelly beans, chocolate and Peeps! For dinner we're going to have ham and mashed potatoes! I can't wait until Easter.

Today I just found out that the Social Studies test got moved to Wednesday. I'm really happy because I get more time to study! I also have to take a couple more pictures for Engage. We're doing a unit on photo editing. I really can't wait! 

Sweet Earth

Today I'm going to sweet earth as a reward for doing so well on my math test for unit 10. I only got 1 wrong which is really good because nobody got 100%. So I get to go to Sweet Earth. Also I got to choose what kind of candy I wanted for my Easter basket and I wanted jelly beans! Jelly beans are so delicious, they have so many different flavors and all of them are yummy! I also get chocolate eggs and chocolate bunnies! My dad and I are also going to church on Easter too. I'm really excited because I like church a lot!

Today my dad is going to the open house for Oakland Youth Orchestra. I'm really excited to audition, if we decide to do it. I'm choosing the song that my private teacher picked out for me. I really hope I make the audition which is in a month I think? I'm excited anyways though.

Tomorrow I (we as I the whole class) and I really hope that I have good enough notes because its an open note test. I also hope I can remember the places the biomes are in the world. Wish me luck!

Today I set out on a search for my ruby dagger that was stolen, by us nymphs worst enemy: the furies (all of this is from Percy Jackson) I set out with my emerald dagger instead and a small  bag of supplies. I will rely on my fellow sisters to guide to the furies, which is (shudder, shudder)  underground! I really hope I won't have to do anything physical, I'm really under weight because I'm supposed to be 101 lbs. but I'm 87 lbs. Also all my friends say I'm not very physical but I have to go, I'm going underground and I'll update you later.

Colors, Colors, Colors!

Today I had another orthodontist appointment and before she started she told me that I would be done in about 1 or 2 months. She also said I was her fastest patient, because most people need to wear their braces for 2 years or more. I only had them on for 1 year and 4 or 5 months. I also got my 2 expanders out today and she had to adjust my bands at the back of my mouth but because she would have to put them back in, its painful for me and her. She has to push and push and dig and poke and pull to get it to...
not fit! Then she has to try again, so instead she said she was must going to but a bracket on but she said I can't tell anyone because she's not really supposed to, well she could but the people in charge won't be happy. But I sure was happy and I got to have colored bands and I chose pink and green. I also got colored rubber bands! They're so pretty I got pink, green, purple and red! I really like colorful things!

Today I was hanging out with some of my friends and at the end we were running towards the park when it happed. I tripped and I was lurching towards the ground so instinctively I put my hands out and I kind of bounced. I got 5 scrapes. 2 on my right knee in was 2 inches wide and 1 inch tall the second on that leg is the size of a quarter. They both stung a lot and I got 1 scrape on my left knee about the size of a quarter. I totally ruined my pants and I scraped my hands, 1 on each hand. It hurts a lot but I'm glad that I have an orthodontist appointment so I probably miss swimming. I can't go swimming with 3 big cuts and scrapes on my legs and 2 on my hands.

I don't really like half days because we only get to do part of the work and classes we usually get to do. Like we didn't have Eng. Tech today or science and social studies. We only had orchestra, la, math and homeroom. But at least we still had math.

Math

My favorite subject in school is math because I always get to learn something different everyday. Mostly everything in math has more than one way you can solve a question. Which is cool because you can't just say 'here's the way you have to do it,' because that's not true there's always more than one way to solve a problem. Just like there's more than one way to skin a cat. That's why math is my favorite subject.

At  the beginning of the story it gives evidence that Auggie (young boy) is a wonder because Auggie has two friends (2 friends) and that's an accomplishment to makes friends (A group of friends) especially with a facial deformity (Facial Deformity). At the beginning not many people (people) were nice to him (nice), they gave him mean looks and whispered about him. For example all those people felt 'horrified.(Horrified) Sickened. Scared.' One girl (girl) sticks up for him and sits with him at lunch (People sitting with people at lunch). Jack also sticks (A stick) up for him when Julian calls him mean names and bully’s him (Bully). This shows that
he has really good friends (Good Friends) and he really is a wonder (Wonder) for making friends (Friends) that stick up (A stick that's high up) for you. (7)


His friends stick up for each other, and are really nice (Nice) to him and treat him like a normal kid (Normal). Like Justin "Yo, don't mess (messing) with Auggie." He said that because some kids (kids) were bullying him (Bullying) and he stuck up (Stick up) him. That's what real friends are even though he's older than Auggie. They all became used to him and became nice to him. Like this girl Maya that used to not talk to him and now is nice to
him. She gave Auggie a key-chain (Key-chain) that says 'to the nicest Auggie Doll (Doll) in the world.' (The world) So people are being nice (nice) to him which shows Auggie is being a wonder (wonder) because he can have so many people being nice (Nice) to him. That's accomplishment even without a different (Different)face. He’s also being really brave (Brave) for standing up for his friends. (Standing up) (9)

Auggie is a wonder because he can change (change) the way people feel and think about him.
"I am very pleased to award (award) The Henry Ward Beecher medal (medal) to the student whose
quiet strength (strength) has carried up to the most hearts. So will August
Pullman please come up here to receive this medal (medal)?"
 Auggie changed everyone's perspective (perspective) on him and how to judge (judge) people. I think it's a great accomplishment (accomplishment) for him to get through 5th grade and to have everyone friends (friends) with you and nice
to you. That's really brave (brave) to even try to go to 5th grade. His mom is really proud (proud) of him. 

"Thank you Auggie."

"For what?"

For everything you've given us," she said. "For coming into our lives (lives) , for being you." You really are a wonder (wonder), Auggie. You are a wonder."

Auggie is a real wonder (real wonder) because he changed the way his parents (parents) look at him and he
 changed the way everyone at school (school) thought about him. I think that's a huge accomplishment to change the way even you're parents (parents) look at you. Auggies mom
thinks that he's a wonder and so do I for being so brave to get through 5^th

Now
as I think about it everyone is a wonder (wonder) no matter who they are.  Some people will feel pity (pity) towards Auggie, but
you shouldn’t feel pity towards the person (a person). You shouldn’t feel pity you should instead
think about how brave (Brave) they are and how you can be you just as brave. You can be
 a wonder no matter who you are just by being kind (kind). In my life there are so many
people changing (changing) other people’s life (life) and that’s what I think being a wonder is. “Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid, (afraid) courage means you don’t let fear (fear) stop you.”

Tomorrow I have conferences and I and kind of excited to show my parents how I did so far in the year. I hope my parents are proud of me for how hard I worked and I might be able to get a book at the book fair. I'm really excited!

Today my group and I presented in Science. We are the Taiga Biome and we volunteered to go first when no one else wanted to go. I think we did pretty well but we all should've spoken up a little more. Today I also got my math placement and I'm happy about what I'm in becuase I got into Algebra 1 with x amount of points. I studied really hard to get that placement and my hard work has paid off so I'm really proud of myself.

Today I went to the BCS Blast and I saw Vivian and we hung out for about 2 hours. We got our nails done and we also got glitter tattoos, we also wanted to get tickets for the prize room. Now I never won the cake walk before but I did today I was in the first group and was the 2nd person called. I was number 50 and I got a box of 6 cupcakes. They were very yummy. Then I went to eat and I saw my dad severing in the café. I got nachos with cheese and chili but my dad gave me too much chili. Vivian was in the super duper long with me so I shared my nachos with her but then she had to leave to got eat somewhere else. Then I saw Zoe and we played more games along with her sisters Bella and Abby. We also saw Claire and hung out with her. At about 6:30 we went and cashed in our tickets and I got 114 and Zoe got 94 and Claire got 110. I got a nail kit and a beaded jewelry kit. Then I got a Pepsi and we all went into the gym for the last 30 minutes. I had a great time but sadly I had to leave at 7:30 which is when it ends, but some people stayed longer to help clean up. I hope I get to go next year.

When Sunday comes I will be at the BCS blast with all my friends walking around the school talking and laughing. I'm excited for the blast and I hope I win one of the auctions. I also hope I win the cake walk because I never won the cake walk before so I hope my luck is good this year.

Today after I rode the loud, busy bus I got off and saw a gray car-nope not mine. And I saw a nice black car that was clean and big. My moms car was red then I remembered that we were supposed to get new car so I looked closer. Yes, my mom was in the black car and I was confused because I thought we were still looking for which car to get. When I sat in the car it smelled like a new car, kind of like new shoes. It was very big and felt different from the old car, the old car was also much smaller and shorted. I'm really happy that we got a new car.

Today I checked out a book called Ice Dogs and its so good I can't put it down. Its a cliff hanger at every page. Its about this girl whose dad died and thought her to be a dog racer. She gets stuck somewhere in a life or death situation. Its a detailed book with lots of description. I recommend you to read this book.

Today I got my honor roll certificate because I was absent on Friday. On Sunday I was looking at blast items and deciding what I wanted my dad to bid on. I have a couple and one of them is Nutcracker at Detroit Opera House because I never saw a ballet before so I hope I win the auction. I also am excited to go to my choice hour tomorrow.

“To me, bravery is to stand up for what you
believe in.” (Someone giving a speech) Going to school (School) and making friends (friends) is hard, doing it with a facial
deformity (Facial Deformity) is harder. (One person at school) In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio, (Wonder) Auggie overcomes the challenge of going to school with a facial deformity. (Someone with a facial deformity) He’s brave just to try to
go to school (School) but getting through a whole year is really brave. (Word brave) Some people think (Thinking)
that it’s easy to make friends (Friends) but it takes more than going to school (School) to make
friends. (A group of friends) It takes a wonder (Wonder) to that. Most people think that's it's not that
hard, but I think that it takes a lot of bravery. (Someone rushing into a fiery building)  I think in Wonder by R.J Palacio, (book wonder) that Auggie is a wonder for being that brave. (Wonder)  (7)


At  the beginning of the story it gives evidence that Auggie (young boy) is a wonder because Auggie has two friends (2 friends) and that's an accomplishment to makes friends (A group of friends) especially with a facial deformity (Facial Deformity). At the beginning not many people (people) were nice to him (nice), they gave him mean looks and whispered about him. For example all those people felt 'horrified.(Horrified) Sickened. Scared.' One girl (girl) sticks up for him and sits with him at lunch (People sitting with people at lunch). Her name is summer (Summer) and she tells the girls who are bullying (Bullying and mean notes) him and laughing (Laugh) at him to stop it. Jack also sticks (A stick) up for him when Julian calls him mean names and bully’s him (Bully). This shows that
he has really good friends (Good Friends) and he really is a wonder (Wonder) for making friends (Friends) that stick up (A stick that's high up) for you. (7)


His friends stick up for each other, and are really nice (Nice) to him and treat him like a normal kid (Normal). Like Justin "Yo, don't mess (messing) with Auggie." He said that because some kids (kids) were bullying him (Bullying) and he stuck up (Stick up) him. That's what real friends are even though he's older than Auggie. They all became used to him and became nice to him. Like this girl Maya that used to not talk to him and now is nice to
him. She gave Auggie a key-chain (Key-chain) that says 'to the nicest Auggie Doll (Doll) in the world.' (The world) So people are being nice (nice) to him which shows Auggie is being a wonder (wonder) because he can have so many people being nice (Nice) to him. That's accomplishment even without a different (Different)face. He’s also being really brave (Brave) for standing up for his friends. (Standing up) (9)

Auggie is a wonder because he can change (change) the way people feel and think about him.
"I am very pleased to award (award) The Henry Ward Beecher medal (medal) to the student whose
quiet strength (strength) has carried up to the most hearts. So will August
Pullman please come up here to receive this medal (medal)?"
 Auggie changed everyone's perspective (perspective) on him and how to judge (judge) people. I think it's a great accomplishment (accomplishment) for him to get through 5th grade and to have everyone friends (friends) with you and nice
to you. That's really brave (brave) to even try to go to 5th grade. His mom is really proud (proud) of him.

For everything you've given us," she said. "For coming into our lives (lives) , for being you." You really are a wonder (wonder), Auggie. You are a wonder."

Auggie is a real wonder (real wonder) because he changed the way his parents (parents) look at him and he
 changed the way everyone at school (school) thought about him. I think that's a huge accomplishment to change the way even you're parents (parents) look at you. Auggies mom
thinks that he's a wonder and so do I for being so brave to get through 5^th

Now
as I think about it everyone is a wonder no matter who they are.  Some people will feel pity towards Auggie, but
you shouldn’t feel pity towards the person. You shouldn’t feel pity you should instead
think about how brave they are and how you can be you just as brave. You can be
 a wonder no matter who you are just by being kind. In my life there are so many
people changing other people’s life and that’s what I think being a wonder is. “Courage
doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid, courage means you don’t let fear stop you.”

I love school because I always get to learn new things and see my friends. I really like math as well as Spanish and Science and Science Lit. I really, really dislike missing school because I miss out on a ton of stuff and I have so much catching up to do when I get back. But today when I went to the doctors he said I have to stay home. I'm sad and kind of happy because I don't feel too good so I'm glad for the extra day to rest.

Yesterday when I went to cello lessons and I was in the room my dad saw a brochure that said auditions for Oakland Youth Orchestra (OYO).  When I came out he asked my private lesson teacher, Angie whether it was a good idea or not for me too audition. I wanted to audition for DYO (Detroit Youth Symphony) instead. But it was too far away but Oakland is really close to wear I live. I just hope I make the audition.
